Overview
Spittal Pond. 11/05/99; Bermuda; 10 ha; 32°18'N 064°43'W. Nature Reserve. The only Bermuda example of a non-tidal permanent shallow brackish lagoon with fringing mudflats and salt marshes, subject to periodic sea flooding with mudflats exposed at low water levels. Bermuda's most important wetland for wintering waterfowl (Egretta caerulea, Podilymbus podiceps, Anas rubripes) and shorebirds (Tringa Limnodromus). Ramsar site no. 984.
